 BAOBAB
is about helping people to transform trauma into creativity

A Word from the Founder

My name is Sasha Galitsky, an artist with 35 years of experience. I am a sculptor — and most importantly, I teach the art of wood carving to those who've endured deep pain. After the war of October 7th and the recent ceasefire, Israel is left with a massive crater: IDF conscripts and reservists, their wives, displaced civilians — many with undiagnosed PTSD, and suicides are on the rise among the Israeli population.
That’s why we’ve chosen to be on the front lines: my 22-year-proven method shows that creative routines through wood carving build life habits, heal wounds, and enhance well-being.

I always go by saying "Do what you do, come what may." Join us — together, we turn trauma into creativity.

Baobab Pilot Project for Women with PTSD

Tens of thousands of Israeli men and women now shoulder the unseen scars of conflict: soldiers, conscripts, reservists, and their families, Nova survivors — all struggling with PTSD.

Baobab's current pilot offers a lifeline: regular wood carving workshops tailored for women healing from post-trauma. This builds lasting routines to reclaim control, ease anxiety, and unlock inner creativity.

Help us expand this vital work — donate or volunteer today to reach more women in the coming year.

Baobab Resilience Centers for Displaced Seniors

Hundreds of Israel's most vulnerable elders now face uprooted lives: evacuees from Be'eri, Reim, Nir Am, Kissufim, Kiryat Shmona, Shlomi, and other war-affected settlements.
Baobab's resilience centers provide more than aid: weekly wood carving workshops in 27 locations (Tel Aviv, Haifa, Tiberias, Netanya), revealing hidden talents, boosting vitality and cognition, and easing post-trauma burdens.
This vital work must continue and expand to meet the growing needs — donate today, or volunteer through our teaching program to share your skills and directly support more seniors.
